Hurricane Hermine Hits Florida with Heavy Rains and Wind

Miami, September 2 (RHC)-- Hurricane Hermine has made landfall in Florida, unleashing torrents of rain, storm surges and up to 80-mile-an-hour winds.

According to authorities in Florida, as many as 23 million people may be affected by the storm, which is the first hurricane to reach make landfall in Florida in more than a decade.

More than 70,000 people have lost electricity in Tallahassee. The storm is now headed toward Georgia, although forecasters say it has weakened into a tropical storm.
