The Casa de Iberoamérica, an institution devoted to the promotion of Ibero-American culture, located in eastern Holguin province, is organizing a series of online performances by local Holguin soloists and musical groups through Facebook Live and other digital platforms.

The presentations are part of a series of actions in Cuba to promote culture in times when people are being asked to stay home, thus protecting themselves and their families against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The program of online performances organized by the cultural center began with a concert by the group Tierra Firme, followed by those of Electrozona Project, Cuban dj Tiko, Entre Líneas ensemble and trova musician Fernando Cabreja and his guest, among them poets Ronel González and José Luis Serrano.

The list of online presentations scheduled for this month of April include concerts by singer/songwriter Edelis Loyola and her guests, Kumbaya ensemble and a concert of electroacoustic music by Alex Dj.

With these concerts, musicians from Holguin province have joined the initiative to take their art directly to the homes of their audiences, an initiative begun here in Cuba by other renowned musicians like David Blanco, Jan Cruz, William Vivanco, and Maestro Chucho Valdés, who during his performance through Facebook Live urged his followers to keep up hope and unity.

The Casa de Iberoamerica is the main venue of the Ibero-American Culture Festival, an event held annually, which includes conferences, exhibitions, concerts and workshops on Ibero-American culture, identity and traditions.

First held in 1993 on the initiative of then Cuban Culture Minister, the late Armando Hart Davalos, the Ibero-American Culture Festival promotes exchanges of experiences and solidarity among nations and peoples in the Ibero-American region.
