Olga Tañón Captivates Havana

Renowned Puerto Rican singer, OlgaTañón, captivated audiences during a Saturday concert at a packed Anti-imperialist tribune in Havana.

Almost half a million Cubans danced to the rhythm of so called “Fire Woman”, who thrilled Havana residents and visitors with her contagious music.At the concert, the provincial Havana government gave the Puerto Rican star the keys to the city which she promised to use to enter all of the capital’s homes. Tañón offered his Cuban fans the gift of songs included in her repertoire, such as Cuando tú no estás, Cómo olvidar, Bugaloo, El mentiroso, Bandolero, Vivo la vida and Basta ya. She also offered a medley of popular Cuban songs and rhythms.

Closing her performances, the Puerto Rican performer thanked the 16 Cuban and Puerto Rican dancers and musicians that accompanied her on stage, she specially thanked maestro Joaquín Betancourt, who codirected the show along with his Cuban counterpart Ángel Hernández, Cuban “tres” player, Pancho Amat, sax player, César López, and the children’s choir Diminuto, also having words of pray for Cuban singer, Descemer Bueno, and the band Qva Libre, who sang with Tañón their hit Tú eres la razón.

The one hour and 40 minute concert was attended by Cuban President’s aide, Abel Prieto, Culture Minister, Julián González, and other government and cultural authorities.
