Over 1000 competitors signed in for Mandela’s race

Havana, July 20 (RHC) – A total of 1108 competitors signed up to participate in the race for the International Nelson Mandela’s Day celebrated this Saturday in Havana in homage to the historic legacy of the anti-apartheid leader.
According to Carlos Gattorno, Marabana/Maracuba project manager, the competitors includes 200 runners and 46 walkers from 15 different countries.
The 7 km race started at 7:00 am for walkers and half an hour later for runners. Every runner who completes the circuit will be given a spot in this year’s Marabana marathon, the biggest marathon event in Cuba. Also the first 600 runners to cross the finish line will be awarded with medals.
