Lima, August 2 (RHC) – Cuban Men´s Volleyball team defeated Puerto Rico in a close match that finished in four highly disputed sets (25-18, 25-9, 25-27, 25-25), to achieve their first victory in the Lima 2019 Pan-Am Games that keeps then in the run for a pass to next round.  Cuba's next match will be against Peru on Friday.

Cuban foursome in the Women´s Team Pursuit in Cycling, formed by Yumari Gonzalez, Iraida Garcia, Iraidis Cervantes and Heidy Praderas; finshed 5th in the 4000 meters with a time of 4:47.309. Yans Carlos Arias was 9th in the Men´s Omnium (four events in one day) by gathering 85 points. Omnium´s champion was American Daniel Holloway (181) and the podium was complete by Mexican Ignacio Prado and Chilean Felipe Peñaloza.

Men´s Field Hockey team lost to Chile by score of 4-0 in the Lima 2019 Pan-Am Games. After winning their first match (against Trinidad & Tobago), Cuba´s third game will have major repercussions, since they will play one of the best teams in the area, and a win will be the only way to advance to the competition´s next stage.

Men´s Handball team starred a fantastic back and forth match against United States in which the Americans ended up on the winning side (26-25), for they scored one more goal than the Cubans. This result leaves Cuba with no chances of advancing further than the Competition´s Group Stage, since their lost to Chile in their debut 28-38.
