Cuban and U.S. Softball Veterans Meet in Havana

Oct 25, -- Softball veterans of the United States and Cuba marked today the 5th anniversary of their first match, series aimed at tightening friendship links between both peoples.

These games are the result exclusively of friendship, extolled U.S. professor Michael Eizenberg, one of the organizers of the series.

The games are coordinated by U.S. enterprise Educational Travel Alliance, with the support of Cuban companies Cubadeportes and Havanatur and they will be played at the Juan Ealo stadium, in Havana's Sports City.

This is something very beautiful because it unites both countries and we leave political differences aside to befriend in sports. We hope these matches will continue.
In the Cuban roster there are several figures who made history in national baseball series, among them, Pedro Chávez, Tony González, Carlos Cepero and Reinaldo "Mantecao" Linares.

Culture and sports allow to build bridges of conciliation that may improve relations between both countries and that is the objective of these games, stress good relations between peoples and contribute to normalization of relations between its governments, said Cuban American businessman, Hugo Cancio, one of the promoters of the series.

In August, Cuban players traveled to the U.S. city of Boston, where the local team won the first two duels, but Cubans revived and scored four consecutive wins.
On this occasion, the program includes 6 games besides visits to places of historic and cultural interest.
