Cuba's Pedro Pablo Pichardo believes he has to do his best mark of the year in the World Championships in Beijing if he wants to qualify for the gold in the triple jump, something that he is perfectly trained for.

" I do not want silver or bronze , I want the gold. My mind just goes gold," Pichardo told DPA press agency at the hotel where the Cuban team stays in the chinese capital. "Every athlete is always going for the gold. And more to the level that I'm jumping now."

Silver in the world Championships in Moscow 2013, Pichardo comes to Beijing with the best mark of the season, 18.08 meters, just two centimeters more than his rival, the American Christian Taylor.
Pichardo will debut on Wednesday classification, and on Thursday he'll dispute the finals, which will not be present the defending champion, french Teddy Tamgho, who is recovering from an injury.

In related news, a record number of 1936 competitors from 207 countries and territories encourage in Beijing from Saturday until August 30th the 25th World Championships in Athletics.

According to the website of the event, Torres and Mestre will fight on Monday.  On Tuesday, we'll have the actions of Carlos Tondique (66) and Yanet Bermoy ( 52 ), while on Wednesday it will be Magdiel Estrada's ( 73) and Aliuska Ojeda( 57 ).
Based on the program , trainers Ronaldo Veitia and Justo Noda will depend on Thursday on Ivan Silva (81) and Maricet Espinosa ( 63 ), and on Friday, on Asley Gonzalez (90 ) , Onix Cortés ( 70) and Yalennis Castillo ( 78 ) .
