Pinar Snatches First Place From Matanzas in Cuban Baseball Series

Dec 4, -- Pinar del Rio beat Artemisa by a score of 5-2 and took advantage the failure of Matanzas facing Sancti Spiritus to ascend to the top of the 53rd Cuban Baseball Championship after finishing the first 8 sub-series.

Shortstop Luis Alberto Valdés' decisive triple with load bases facing reliever José Ángel García in the 8th decreed the triumph of Pinar, with credit for Isbel Hernández and defeat for Miguel Lahera.
