Boxing

Boxers Roniel Iglesias, Robeisy Ramirez, Erislandy Savon, and Leiner Pero will try to win their Olympic tickets to Rio 2016. Starting on Friday, the qualifying event will kick off in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The names were expected. Even Roniel who has not convinced all the fans in his latest performances, but he has won credit based on his many important triumphs.

Nine days are scheduled in La Rural, Buenos Aires.  And 25 tickets for Rio 2016 for men, and 5 among women will be granted.

As we already know, Cuba has secured Joahnys Argilagos, Yosbany Veitia, Lazaro Alvarez, Yasniel Toledo, Arlen Lopez, and Julio Cesar La Cruz.

It will be a golden opportunity for Iglesias and Robeisy to secure their spots in Rio de Janeiro after reigning in London 2012.

 

Athletics
Cuba will only send short hurdlers Yordan O'Farrill and Johanis Portilla, besides the 800 mt runner Rose Mary Almanza to the World Indoor Athletics Championship to be held in the U.S. city of Portland, Oregon from March 17th-20th.

 

Softball

Ciego de Avila's men's softball team was given the flag today to intervene, beginning Friday, March 11th, at the National Softball Championship, based in Ciego de Avila.

 

Sports Complex Remodeling

The remodeling and expansion of the Amistad Sports Complex of the central city of Santa Clara, Villa Clara province, should be fully completed in its 1st stage before concluding the current month of March.
