Cuban delegation attends SMEs Forum in Italy

Havana, November 1 (RHC)-- Cuba attended this week the 5th Forum on Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), held October 28th through the 30th in Padua, northern Italy, hosted by the Italo-Latin American Institute (IILA).

Cuba’s participation was part of the actions aimed at broadening and deepening economic ties with the European country.

The Cuban delegation was headed by Alexis Rodriguez, Director General of Economy and Development of the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture. It included officials from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment and the Havana Historian’s Office.

The Cuban Embassy in Italy was also represented by the Minister Counselor, Jorge Alfonzo, and the Counselor for Economic and Cooperation Issues, Emma Liens.

The visit agenda of the Cuban delegation included tours and exchanges with authorities of Paduan companies from the industrial, footwear, food, agriculture, tourism and innovation sectors.

The agenda of the SMEs event included workshops, presentations and peer-to-peer meetings in order to learn about the experiences and potentialities of the Veneto region, where Padua is located, and to identify possible business interests in line with Cuba's socioeconomic development priorities.
