Nassau, February 27 (RHC) -- Bahamanian authorities said Wednesday they had rescued a group of 170 Haitian and two Dominican migrants after their boat capsized in territorial waters.

The official sources said the migrants were rescued near Rose Island, northeast of Nassau, the Bahamanian capital.

Such incidents occur frequently as Haitians fleeing poverty and high unemployment in their country travel through the Bahamas, often in over-loaded boats, to the U.S. or Puerto Rico.
