Montreal, September 28 (RHC)-- Hundreds of thousands of schoolchildren walked out of classes in cities around the world for the second straight Friday, in the latest round of strikes demanding urgent action on the climate crisis.

Friday’s climate protests began with marches by tens of thousands of New Zealanders.  The strikes were inspired by 16-year-old Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who spoke to climate strikers in Montreal, Canada.

In related news, a new report finds global wheat harvests are increasingly under threat as the climate crisis accelerates.  The report in the peer-reviewed journal Science Advances finds that, without radical action to mitigate climate change, extreme droughts will threaten 60% of the world’s current wheat-producing regions by the end of the century.
