Washington, May 24 (RHC)-- Food Not Bombs is marking its 40th anniversary this weekend.  The worldwide all-volunteer movement recovers food that would otherwise be discarded and provides free vegan and vegetarian meals in over 1,000 cities in 65 countries.

The movement began in 1980 to protest the U.S. military budget, poverty and destruction of the environment. Food Not Bombs volunteers have been arrested dozens of times while attempting to feed the hungry.
