Paris, July 3 (RHC-ANDINA) -- Peru’s President Ollanta Humala Tasso held a meeting with his French counterpart François Hollande in Paris as part of his ongoing state visit to the European nation.

During the high-level gathering carried out at the Elysée Palace on Tuesday, both head of States adressed a number of issues of mutual interest for the strengthening of bilateral ties between the two nations, especially in the areas of health, defense and education.

Details on the Multiparty Trade Agreement between Peru and the European Union were also discussed at the meeting where President Hollande pledged to fully ratifying the accord at the French National Assembly by the end of this year.

Furthermore, Hollande told his counterpart from South America that his administration will back Peru’s efforts to join the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, (OECD).

The two sides also agreed to work together towards the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, scheduled to take place in December in Lima.
