Gaza City, August 20 (RHC)-- Israel has resumed its assault on the Gaza Strip, killing 11 Palestinians after a 10-day pause in violence. According to reports, at least 60 airstrikes have been carried out over the past 24 hours.

Since fighting resumed, Israeli strikes have reportedly killed seven members of a single family, including three children, as well as the wife and two-year-old son of Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif. There were no reports of Israeli fatalities from rocket fire from Gaza into Israel.

More than 2,000 Palestinians, hundreds of them children, have been killed since the Israeli offensive began in early July. On the Israeli side, 64 soldiers and three civilians have been killed.
