Colombian FARC Guerrillas Release US Citizen Kevin Scott Sutay

Havana, October 27 (RHC)—The governments of Cuba and Norway announced on Sunday that Colombia’s Revolutionary Armed Forces-People’s Army (FARC-EP) released US citizen Kevin Scott Sutay, who had been under FARC custody since January 20 this year. PRESS STATEMENT BY THE GOVERMENTS OF CUBA AND NORWAY
 
Mr. Kevin Scott Sutay, citizen of the United States of America, who has been held in custody by the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia-Ejército del Pueblo (FARC-EP) since June 20, 2013, was released by the Bloque Oriental of FARC-EP to representatives of the governments of Cuba and Norway and delegates of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in cooperation with the Colombian Government.
 
At 11:30 am today, October 27, Mr. Sutay was handed over to representatives of the Government of the United States at the airport of Bogotá.
 
Mr. Sutay received a health check from the ICRC and his physical condition is good. He will soon be able to join his family.
 
The Government of Colombia and the FARC-EP expressed their appreciation to the governments of Cuba and Norway and to the ICRC for their valuable contribution to the liberation and handover of Mr. Sutay to the United States authorities.
 
The governments of Cuba and Norway reiterated their support to the peace dialogue and the efforts to put an end to the armed conflict in Colombia.
