Asuncion, January 1 (RHC-PL), -- The Paraguayan coalition Guasu Front, made up of parties and social organizations, called Wednesday for strengthening organization and unity of the people in 2015 to move towards the second independence of the country.

In a year-end statement, the coalition made an assessment of all the demonstrations of Paraguayans, even those abroad, to deplore what it described as a project of looting and repression staged by President Horacio Cartes along with leaders of traditional parties.

The statement indicated that all members of the Front, including its political leadership and parliamentarians, reiterate the commitment to continue fighting for justice, peace and freedom during the next year.

It mentioned as main claims, higher taxes for wealthiest people, democratization of land ownership, claims for housing and working with social security, as well as free health care and education, and defense of strategic natural resources.

It also called for repealing the privatization Law on Public-Private Partnership and the militarization of northern Paraguay, and also the approval of projects to achieve greater tax justice, as main challenges for 2015.

Guasu Front acknowledged that the process is difficult because rivals are violent towards a possible government of the people, by the people and for the people, but the coalition reiterated the hope of achieving the ongoing process of unity, seeking to build an honorable nation.
