Detroit, February 18 (RHC)-- A U.S. federal judge has rejected a bid for a new trial from a Palestinian activist convicted of immigration fraud. Rasmea Odeh was found guilty of concealing her conviction on bombing charges by an Israeli military court more than 40 years ago.
Rasmea Odeh says her confession to the bombings was obtained through torture and sexual assault in Israeli custody. Supporters say she was targeted by U.S. authorities because of her prominent support for Palestinian liberation.
The Palestinian activist now faces up to 10 years in prison and deportation at her sentencing next month.
