Lima, February 28 (ANDINA-RHC)-- Peruvian President Ollanta Humala has called for national unity and dialogue to lower "political noise" and maintain Peru’s economic growth, while noting the country will be back to lead the region according to international projections.

He said the estimated average growth rate in Latin America is at 1 percent and displays a downward trend, whereas Peru’s GDP is forecast to grow around 4 percent.

“It doesn’t mean the projection will lead to the same result. This means we have the capacity and strength to do so, but we need to work together. On this regard, I call for unity and dialogue," he added.

Joined by Peru’s First Lady, Nadine Heredia, Humala warned there is political noise characteristic and typical of Peru, but there is another one that might cause uncertainty among economic agents.

“In that case, we have to distinguish how loud we choose to make the noise, establishing limits so that the country’s [political environment] remains unchanged,” stressed the President.

Statements were made in the Lima district of Ate, where the Peruvian leader opened four stairways and 38 retaining walls built by unskilled labor with the financing of the Labor Ministry’s Trabaja Peru program

Trabaja Peru’s goal is to create and promote quality jobs among the unemployed and underemployed in poverty stricken communities. This is achieved through the financing of basic infrastructure projects that require mainly unskilled labor.
