Islamabad, July 16 (RHC)-- Pakistan says it has shot down an Indian spy drone over its side of the restive Himalayan region of Kashmir. The Pakistani military said that "an Indian spy drone used for aerial photography was shot down by Pakistani troops which intruded into Pakistan along the Line of Control near Bhimber."

The Line of Control is the military control line between the Indian- and Pakistani-controlled parts of Kashmir. India's high commissioner to Pakistan, TCA Raghavan, has been summoned to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry over the violation of the country's airspace.

Both the Indian army and air force have denied the incident, stating that none of their drones have been shot down or crashed.

The Himalayan region lies at the heart of more than 67 years of hostility between India and Pakistan. Both neighbors claim the region in full but have partial control over it. India controls two-thirds of Kashmir while the remaining one-third remains under Pakistan's rule.

The neighbors agreed on a ceasefire in 2003, and launched a peace process the following year. Since then, there have been sporadic clashes, with both sides accusing the other of violating the ceasefire.
