New York, October 2 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Nicaraguan Vice President Moses Omar Halleslevens Acevedo rejected powerful nations interfering in the internal politics of progressive countries of Latin America, during his speech before the U.N. General Assembly on Thursday.

"Capitalism has introduced its hand of terror in the countries of Latin America, trying to establish soft coups, which attempt to destabilize the governments democratically elected by the people," said Halleslevens Acevedo, reading a letter by President Daniel Ortega.

In the text, Halleslevens Acevedo urged the U.N. to be "a democratic entity that fulfills the role of peace and equality and to fight for the people in developing nations, specifically the nations of Latin America."

"The U.N. was launched in 1948 as an organization for peace, but these objectives have not been achieved because of the interests of some powerful (countries), whose selfishness and arrogance have blocked this path," he said.

He additionally denounced the growing greed of capitalism in the Middle East, which he said has caused wars across the globe and famine in Africa.

He recalled "the displacement of thousands of Syrian citizens, children, the elderly and women suffer the consequences of a few who aspire to control the power of the world."

"The justice and peace that was established in the Millennium Development Goals objectives has been hampered by the wickedness of these evil interference" he said.
