Buenos Aires, October 21 (PL-RHC)-- The Criminal Court 1 from the city of La Plata has sentenced to life imprisonment three former chiefs of the Argentina's Army for crimes against humanity committed during the military dictatorship, media reported on Tuesday.

The Court, which judges federal crimes, announced its verdict on Monday night against five Army officers and three from the Prefecture, for crimes of genocide against textile workers in the cities of Berisso and Ensenada.

The officers sentenced to life in prison were Commanders Jorge Errecaborde and José Fernández and intelligence operations chief Roberto Guitian. In addition, other two Army chiefs and three Prefecture officers, received 25-year sentences.

The sentenced officers, allegedly along with others under investigation, were responsible for the death of two textile workers and the disappearance of other three.
