Argentina, Brazil and Chile Elected to the International Maritime Organization Council

London, December 3 (RHC) – Argentina, Chile and Brazil have been elected to be members of the International Maritime Organization Council for the 2014/15 biennium by the IMO assembly, being held in London.

The Council is the executive organ of IMO and is responsible, under the Assembly, for supervising the work of the organization.

The 28th session of the IMO Assembly is being held at IMO Headquarters, London, from 25 November to 4 December 2013.

The IMO is the United Nations' specialized agency responsible for improving maritime safety and preventing pollution from ships.
