Damascus, November 13 (RHC)-- Syrian military forces have liberated key areas from the grip of Takfiri terrorists as part of the recent advances in Aleppo Province. Syria's official news agency SANA said on Friday that the forces seized control of several villages and positions in the southwestern countryside of Aleppo. The report notes that the terrorists suffered heavy losses in terms of personnel and equipment.

The gains are the latest in a string of successful military achievements in various parts of Aleppo Province over the past few days. Syrian forces on Thursday retook the city of al-Hader from the militants of the al-Qaeda-linked group Nusra Front and the so-called Ahrar al-Sham while they also established full control over several villages around the city. Syrian forces also seized control of the al-Eis hilltop on Thursday, expanding their control over the hideouts of militants in the vicinity of Hader.

The greatest achievement in the Aleppo operations came on Tuesday, when the Syrian forces broke a two-year siege on a strategic airbase southeast of Aleppo. The Kweiris airport, which is better known as Rasm ul-Abud, was the scene of fierce clashes between about 1,000 Syrian forces trapped inside and militants of the Takfiri group Daesh. Syrian state media said the victory significantly boosts the future operations against militants across Aleppo.

Syria has suffered from more than four years of foreign-backed militancy, which the government blames on several countries, including Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

The advances of the pro-government forces against militants of Daesh and other terrorist groups in Aleppo and elsewhere have been expedited by the air cover provided by Russia, which began on September 30th.
