Closed Case of Murder of Venezuelan Opposition Leader

Caracas, December 3 (PL-RHC)-- Venezuelan Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Gustavo Gonzales, presented on Wednesday conclusive evidence on the case of the murder of Luis Diaz, leader of the opposition party Democratic Action (AD).

At a press conference, the leader disclosed police audiovisual evidences and documents, and reported that the material perpetrator and several of his colleagues were already arrested.

The Minister explained the murder of Diaz, Secretary General of AD in a municipality of the state of Guarico (center) was a contract killing, as the result of a settling of scores between criminal gangs, and had no political implication. Thus, Gonzalez announced the case was formally and officially closed.

Luis Diaz's death on November 25 was used by opposition affiliations to accuse the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).
