Caracas, December 5 (teleSUR-RHC)-- The president of Venezuela's National Electoral Council (CNE), Tibisay Lucena, has opened the electoral process for the country's parliamentary elections Sunday.

“We reached a high level of installation, with 96.63 percent of tables across the country,” said Lucena from the headquarters in the Venezuelan capital Caracas.

Lucena praised the organization of the parliamentary elections thus far, and congratulated the board members who will be overseeing the elections to ensure they continue to run without problems.

“They must go to the polls to form polling stations and opening to the electoral process, which begins at 6:00 a.m. Caracas time,” said Lucena, who invited Venezuelans to go to the polls early to cast their votes.

The president of the CNE explained that the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) has 81,033 witness tables, while the Democratic Unity Roundtable has 80,296 witnesses. Both groups have a witness and an alternate, Lucena said.

Lucena reminded the participants of political organizations that from midnight Friday, the electoral ban begins, which means that all parties must stop campaigning.
