Tegucigalpa, December 7 (RHC) – The LIBRE party in Honduras has officially demanded the annulment of presidential vote results over what it described as a “clear” fraud.

On Friday, the LIBRE candidate, Xiomara Castro, and her husband, former Honduran President Manuel Zelaya, submitted a formal document to the country’s electoral officials, asking them to cancel the results of the November 24th presidential polls.

Zelaya said the document included proof of “clear” voter fraud, stressing: “It was a well-done fraud.” He also maintained that officials at some 2,800 polling stations conspired against his wife “because at the other voting stations, all 12,000 of them... Xiomara won.”

On December 1st, Juan Orlando Hernandez was formally declared winner of the presidential race in Honduras. Hernandez, who is a member of the country’s ruling National Party, allegedly beat Castro by eight percentage points with 37 percent against 29 percent.

However, the LIBRE party has refused to recognize the results. Xiomara Castro later filed a fraud complaint to the country’s Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
