Mexico City, January 19 (RHC-teleSUR) -- Mexican actress Kate del Castillo will be called to testify next week on her meeting with drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, who was captured January 8, six months after his escape from prison.

Del Castillo was responsible for arranging a secret interview between Hollywood star Sean Penn and El Chapo in January, which was published in Rolling Stone magazine.

According to the attorney general’s office, the line of questioning will focus on the circumstances of the meeting.

Penn and Castillo met El Chapo at an undisclosed location in Mexico’s state of Durango in October, months after the drug lord escaped from a maximum security prison for the second time last July.

The call for del Castillo’s testimony comes after the Mexican Attorney General’s Office said last week that the clandestine meeting the actors held with El Chapo helped authorities track down the kingpin after a months-long manhunt.

El Chapo is now jailed in the same Altiplano prison he escaped from last year.
