Montevideo, Apr 19 (RHC-PL) The government of Uruguay enacted a red alert for its central territory as a result of forecasts of heavy rains and winds that may exceed 120 kilometers per hour.
Executive Secretary in the President’s Office, Juan Andrés Roballo, said the prediction from the Meteorology Institute extends through Tuesday, and that authorities are in permanent communication with sanitary and educational agencies, ready to take the necessary measures.
Roballo said already more than 4,000 people had been relocated nation-wide, and the Council of Ministers was especially concerned with the impact of a tornado in the city of Dolores.
