Miami, May 14 (RHC)-- In the United States, the Florida neighborhood watchman who fatally shot unarmed Black teenager Trayvon Martin in 2012 has put the killer handgun up for auction.

The 32-year-old Zimmerman, who was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter in the case in 2013, said he recently got the .9mm-handgun back from the Department of Justice, which kept it after his trial.  Now the handgun is displayed on an online auction site, with a picture of a court officer holding up the gun at his murder trial.

Bidding for the gun Zimmerman used to kill 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was up to an astromonical $65 million on Friday morning as openly racist, white-supremists bid on the trophy.  One bidder used the name of “Racist McShootface.”  Another bidder used the name Tamir Rice, which is the name of a 12-year-old boy shot and killed by police in Cleveland while carrying a toy gun.

Zimmerman told reporters he planned to use the proceeds from the sale of the gun -- which he described as "an American Firearm Icon" -- to fight "Black Lives Matter" and financially support Donald Trump's bid for the U.S. presidency.

According to court records, Zimmerman has had several run-ins with the law since he shot and killed the young Black man four years ago, including domestic abuse charges and an alleged road rage incident, in which he pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot at a car that cut him off on a Florida highway.
