California, August 5 (RHC)-- Cuba friends and solidarity activists in the United States are carrying out a series of activities to celebrate the 90th birthday of Cuban revolution leader Fidel Castro.

A press released issued by the International Committee for Peace, Justice and Dignity said that 'this momentous occasion will open a period of celebration and reflection on a leader who never wavered against the Empire despite over 600 attempts on his life and their constant attempts to undermine the Cuban Revolution.'

The solidarity group, based in San Francisco, California, refers to Cuba as 'a living, unrelenting beacon that never dims in our collective struggle for a better more just world based on equality, peace and mutual respect.'

Among activities in the U.S. to celebrate Fidel's birthday, the solidarity group mentions Roberto Chile's remarkable and poignant exhibit of 17 images entitled "Fidel is Fidel", calling it 'a dignified documentation of Fidel in the later period of his life.'

Sponsored by the Alliance for Global Justice and the International Committee Peace Justice and Dignity, the exhibit was inaugurated in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 3rd and will travel also to California, Arizona, Maryland and New York from now until the end of the year.
