Havana, November 4 (RHC-ACN)-- The 18th Congress of the Confederation of Arab Entities of The Americas (FEARAB-AMERICA) will take place November 11th and 12th in Havana, aimed at promoting unity among Arab communities.

The president of the Cuban Arab Association Dr. Alfredo Deriche told reporters that the Congress will focus on the unity, identity, culture and peace not only of the people of Arab-descent in The Americas but also in the Middle East.

Delegations from Uruguay, Chile, Panama, Argentina and Brazil have confirmed their participation in the forum. Organizers also expect the attendance of the Arab communities in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Honduras, Colombia and Bolivia.

FEARAB-AMERICA was founded in 1973 as a natural bridge between Arab countries and their descendants in this part of the world. Cuba joined the organization in 1981 during the 5th Congress, held in Washington D.C.

In Cuba, there are more than 45,000 Arab descendants, most of them of Palestinian, Lebanese and Syrian origin. In the American continent there are nearly 20 million people of Arab descent.
