San Juan, January 19 (RHC)-- Puerto Rican independence activist and political prisoner Oscar López Rivera has thanked Cuba for its support in the campaign for his release and his return home. Oscar López Rivera was finally granted a commutation earlier this week after more than 35 years in U.S. prisons.
In a telephone conversation with the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship, ICAP, Kenia Serrano, López Rivera expressed his gratitude to the Cuban Five and Cuba's relentless support for his cause.
On Wednesday, with news of the U.S. presidential commutation, ICAP sent a message to the people of Puerto Rico and the world solidarity movement with Cuba, celebrating the release of Oscar López Rivera.
