Brasilia, October 7 (RHC)-- A new group of Cuban doctors has arrived in the Brazilian capital to help staff isolated Brazilian communities with medical personnel.

Five hundred Cuban professionals are already in place in communities surrounding the Brazilian capital city so far. Some

300 Cuban doctors arrived last week at Fortaleza, in Ceará, to join the 750 disembarked at Victoria in Espiritu Santo, and the 450 who landed at Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais.

All of these, plus four hundred who had arrived in Brazil in late August, make a total of two thousand Cuban doctors who will work in medically deprived areas of Brazil.

Brazilian newspapers report that Brazilian doctors do not want to offer their services in deprived areas, because “there is no money in it.”

Besides the Cuban professionals, the Brazilian Government has also put under contract 532 doctors from 11 other countries, following agreements it signed with the Pan American Health organization
