Rome, April 5 (RHC)-- The Cuban Minister of Food Industry and Fisheries, María del Carmen Concepción, has invited Italian companies to invest in Cuba in the area of food and food processing.

During a lecture at the Italo-Latin American Institute in Rome, Minister Concepción said the Cuban food industry was open to Italian investments. She said Italy is well known for its experience in the field of food processing and has a demonstrated commercial capacity in that sector.

The Cuban Food Industry and Fisheries minister said Cuba was conveniently positioned geographically and could prove strategic in connecting to markets in the American continent and facilitating exports.

The minister said the Cuban government was interested in boosting the processing of fishery, dairy and meat products, as well as the processing of fruit preserves, fruits and vegetables. She said those were areas in which Cuba was ready to move using the modalities of  management contracts and joint ventures with foreign companies.
