Haitian Ambassador Thanks Cuba for its Permanent Cooperation

Havana, February 4 (RHC)-- Haitian ambassador to Cuba Jean Victor Geneus thanked Cubans for their assistance of the Haitian people and recalled the 110th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two sister Caribbean nations.

During the cancellation of a postal stamp, the diplomat recalled that the two countries share similar history, culture and solid friendship that dates back to the 19th century, after his country reached independence in 1804.

Despite economic difficulties and shortages, Cuba has maintained its medical professionals in Haiti since 1998, while hundreds of Haitian youths have graduated as medical doctors in Cuba, said the diplomat, who also recalled Cuba's assistance in other sectors, such as agriculture, education an sports.

The recently cancelled stamp depicts the coat of arms of the two nations over the images of the Haiti and Cuba as a symbol of the close geographic and historic links.
