Havana, February 13 (RHC)-- Havana’s International Book Fair is officially underway today, running until February 23rd at the Cabaña Fortress and other important venues in the city.

The book fair is one of Cuba’s most important annual cultural events. Following Havana, the literary event goes on the road and will visit all the Cuban provinces.

Ecuador is the guest country at the event, which is dedicated to National literary laureate Nersys Felipe and National Social Science Prize winner Rolando Rodriguez. The fair will also mark the 200th birthday anniversary of Cuban poetess Gertrudis Gomez de Avellaneda.

The fair will carry over 700 book titles, with more than 2.5 million copies in sale to all types of readers, young and old.

For the first time this year, the fair's agenda is a colloquium on Anthropology and Archeology, with the participation of specialists from Ecuador, Cuba and Mexico.
