Date Announced for Parliamentary Elections in Cuba

Havana, January 6 (RHC-PL), -- The Council of State of Cuba has announced the dates for the nominations and the elections of the provincial delegates and the deputies to the National Assembly of the Popular Power, according to Granma newspaper.

In use of its powers, conferred by the Constitution, the Electoral Law of 1992 and agreements adopted on December 22, the State Council ordered that on March 11 the elections for the delegates to the provincial assemblies, and the deputies to the National Assembly of Peoples Power will be held.

According to the information, it was also determined that the municipal assemblies of People's Power will meet on January 21, in a extraordinary session to make the nominations, respectively, of the candidates for delegates to the provincial assemblies, and of the deputies to the National Assembly of the People's Power.
