President of Tajikistan Interested in Expanding Cooperation with Cuba

Tajikistan, March 11 (RHC)-- Tajikistani President Emomali Rajmon expressed on Monday his willingness to expand economic and commercial cooperation relations with Cuba as he received the credentials of the new Cuban ambassador to that country Carlos Valdes.

President Rajmon sent his greetings to Raul Castro and the people of Cuba whishing them success and prosperity, and noted that relations between Tajikistan and Cuba have always been very friendly and should be strengthened, PL news agency reported.

Ambassador Valdes thanked the President for his affectionate statements and reiterated Cuba’s confidence in the successful unfolding of bilateral relations through mutual collaboration in the areas of health, education and culture.

The ambassador also expressed Tajikistan his gratefulness for its support of Cuba against the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade and he went on to underline the friendship expressed by the people of Cuba towards the Tajikistani people.
