Cuba declares Official Mourning in memory of late Vietnamese President

Havana, September 22 (RHC)-- On the occasion of the death Friday of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tran Dai Quang, the Cuban Council of State has decreed an Official Mourning period from 6:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22nd, until 12:00 midnight on Sunday, September 23rd, and National Mourning on Monday, September 24th.

While the National and Official Mournings are observed, the Cuban national flag will be hoisted at half-mast in public buildings and military institutions; during the National Mourning on the 24th, public shows and festive activities will be suspended.

Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), sent his condolences to the people of Vietnam for the death of their president.

With the presence of Salvador Valdés Mesa, First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, and before the second day of work with the presidents of the provincial assemblies, a moment of silence was dedicated to the memory of the great friend of Cuba.
