Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Acknowledges Efforts of Sugar Workers

Havana, March 17, (RHC), -- The second secretary of Cuba’s Communist Party, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, acknowledged the efforts of sugar workers in central-eastern Ciego de Avila province in the current sugar cane campaign and call for stable production in the territory, whose sugar yield surpassed 100 thousand tons of the product.

Sugar workers in Ciego de Avila have made good and integral work though, as in the rest of the country, they have also received the impact of rains and adverse weather, which affects the achievement of a large sugar production, Machado said.

Speaking with workers at the Primero de Enero sugar plant, the also Cuban Vice-president learned that the mill has contributed 3 thousand tons of sugar over its production schedule, a figure that is expected to increase over the next weeks.

Machado Ventura was accompanied during his tour of the sugar mill by Felix Duarte, first secretary of the Communist Party in the territory and by Raul Perez, president of the provincial assembly.
