Havana, January 23 (RHC)-- The president of the Federation of Latin American Journalists (FELAP), Juan Carlos Camaño, has issued a call to continue defending truth and social justice.

During an international journalism forum held in Havana, he recalled the complex context in which Latin American journalists work, victims of attacks and killings, as occurs in Mexico, Colombia, Honduras and Guatemala.

Camaño pointed to the difficult situation in Brazil, where fascist policies imposed by far-right President Jair Bolsonaro have made the work of progressive journalists more difficult and dangerous,

The International Forum on Latin American Journalism was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Operation Truth, a meeting of 400 foreign journalists in Havana in January 1959 to cover first-hand the trials of Batista’s war criminals, following a campaign of lies and manipulation around the process led by the U.S. and corporate press.
