Cuban military jet crashes in Artemisa, no casualties reported

A commission of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces is investigating the causes of the accident.

Havana, February 26 (RHC)--A Mig-21 military aircraft belonging to the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces crashed Tuesday around 11.00 am local time, in Guira de Melena municipality, in the western province of Artemisa, some 50 kilometers from Havana.

No fatalities were reported.

A press release by the Ministry of the Armed Forces (MINFAR) informed that the accident occurred due to technical failure during the execution of a combat training exercise.

The note added that the incident did not cause any damage in the locality, and that the pilot is in good health.

A commission of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces investigates the causes of the accident.
