Cuban lawmakers meet in committees prior to ordinary session

Havana, July 8 (RHC)—Cuban lawmakers are meeting as of Monday on their respective permanent committees, in work sessions prior to the 3rd ordinary meeting of the full parliament slated for Saturday.

 

Policies to meet the island’s current demographic dynamics, the situation of public transportation, the status of the subsidized ration card system, housing construction or remodeling for families with three or more children, are some of the topics that will be examined by the legislators.

 

As part of the activities prior to the 3rd Ordinary Session of the 9th Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power, its ten permanent work commissions are meeting from Monday through Wednesday in the Cuban capital.

 

The parliamentarians will also analyze the progress of measures to minimize the impact of shortages of medications, compliance with approved measures for care of the elderly and nursing homes, as well as the situation of e-commerce and e-government.

 

The agenda of the committees also include the Economy Plan and the State Budget, regulations for self-employment, actions to increase exports and especially, the analysis and discussion of bills related to Fisheries, National Symbols and the Electoral System.

 

Deputies will also be briefed on the work of several ministries, before the ordinary session that is scheduled for Saturday.
