New York, July 17 (RHC)-- The Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, ratified the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, the Island´s willingness to continue strengthening ties with the multilateral organization.

In a meeting held Tuesday with the UN highest representative, both parties discussed sustainable development, and exchanged on several issues of interest of the national and international scene.

Malmierca reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to the implementation of Agenda 2030, a subject the island is promoting during its current presidency of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).

He also referred to the negative impact of the U.S. blockade against Cuba, and the recent measures taken by the Donald Trump administration, such as the full implementation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act.
