More teachers incorporated in classrooms in Holguin

Holguin, August 20 (RHC)-- Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, Cuba's Minister of Education, has been briefed about the 2019-2020 school year in the eastern province of Holguin.  During a meeting with teachers and educational workers, it was announced that over 1,200 educational institutions are being opened in the province, where more teachers are being reinstated after increases in salaries.

The minister of education showed an interest in preparations for the upcoming school year and specifically the situation in Holguin, recognized as the largest school district in the country.

At the meeting, the municipal directors in Holguín explained the progress made at the 38 schools in the area that had been declared in critical condition by the Ministry of Public Health.  She said that all of the problems must be completely resolved by the time schools open for young students on Monday, September 2nd.

Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguín, pointed out that work is continuing but is ahead of schedule compared to previous years.

Luis Felipe Batista, Director of Education in the province, said that almost all of the teachers are in place -- 98.2 percent -- and ready for the new school year.
