Islamabad, April 18 (RHC) – Cuba has invited the Pakistani business community to explore trade opportunities in an upcoming international expo being held in Havana. The Pakistani business community has a chance to build bridges with participants from the seventy countries that are taking part in this mega event, said Ambassador of Cuba to Pakistan, Jesús Zenen Buergo Concepción.

Talking to a delegation of businessmen led by the President of the FPCCI Zakria Usman, the Ambassador, said “we want enhanced commercial, political and cultural ties with Pakistan”. Buergo said that Pakistani textiles, sports goods, surgical instruments, leather goods, handicrafts, marble and rice are greatly admired in Cuba, but the volume of bilateral trade does not reflect our cordial ties.

He said that he will push the Cuban Chamber of Commerce for links and exchange of delegations with FPCCI. The health and medical education system of Cuba is considered one of the best in the world and we desire to upgrade the Pakistani system to that level, he stated.

The ambassador said “relations between Pakistan and Cuba were based on mutual trust and confidence, our ties are growing and must be converted into trade and economic cooperation”. He also thanked Islamabad for supporting a UN resolution for the lifting of the economic blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.
