Political Bureau announces modification of scheduled events

Havana, March 19 (RHC)—The Political Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party announced Thursday its decision to modify the national yearly schedule for national historical events, to avoid the gathering of large crowds.

The modification approved includes the suspension, postponement or commemoration under constrained circumstances as variants to be used, starting from an analysis of each of the programmed activities through the month of July.

In terms of the celebrations related to historical events or personalities, the party’s highest instance decided that they will be observed, in all cases on the foreseen dates, with a reduced attendance of people, and they will count on the adequate coverage by the media.

The note read at the Prime Time TV newscast added that the decision is also applicable to all events of national, provincial or territorial character, approved by the Young Communist League, which had already announced the postponement of its 11th Congress, as well as the Party branches at all those levels

Regarding the celebrations of May Day and July 26 National Celebration, the Political Bureau said it would announce al a later date the decision on those events.
