Havana, April 4 (RHC)— President Miguel Diaz Canel congratulated the island's youth and children organization on their respective anniversaries this April 4.

The Jose Marti Pioneers Organization (OPJM) is turning 59 years old, and the Young Communist League  (UJC) is turning 58.

On Twitter, Diaz-Canel quoted Historical Cuban leader Fidel Castro when he said: "To believe in youth is to see in youth the best raw material of the country, the best raw material of youth, of the Revolution; to believe in youth is to look at everything that our youth can do; it is to see in that youth worthy followers ... ."

The 11th Congress of the Union of Young Communists was scheduled to take place in Havana and to conclude this Saturday, but it was postponed due to the situation with the COVID-19 on the island.

Since most young people are at home because of the  epidemic, they are expected to celebrate the anniversaries with various activities on social media platforms, including an online forum with Juventud Rebelde newspaper, where children, adolescents, and young people are going to describe what they are doing amid he battle against COVID-19.
