Top Havana authorities tour institutions linked to the health system

Havana, April 27 (RHC)-- Top authorities of Havana's Provincial Defense Council, Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, and Reinaldo García Zapata, president and vice president, respectively, toured on institutions in the capital linked to the health system that are in the front line of the fight against COVID-19.

Accompanied by Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, Minister of Transportation, and Roberto Ricardo Marrero, Deputy Minister of Health, they exchanged opinions with workers of the Integrated System of Medical Emergencies (SIUM), in Havana, which received an integral remodeling that speeds up the response of patients, humanizes the work of its personnel and creates a single computerized command.

Torres Iríbar called on those working in the municipality of Playa, to make a greater effort in accordance with the demands of the moment and current needs.

According to the newspaper Tribuna de La Habana, as part of the work against COVID-19, the SIUM was given 15 computers to help respond quickly to requests for assistance, two printers, air conditioning units, paint and televisions.

They also received support from 20 students from the Enrique José Varona University of Pedagogical Sciences, 15 teachers from the municipality of Playa, in addition to the Cubataxi Company.

Torres Iríbar and García Zapata also supervised the work at the Hospital Clínico Quirúrgico Docente Salvador Allende, in the municipality of Cerro, where efforts are being made to confront COVID-19, which led them to provide an unprecedented 400 beds.

Luis Antonio Torres Iribar, who also serves as First Secretary of the Communist Party in Havana, while sharing with the health workers, called for greater organization, unity and responsibility, because that center is decisive for Havana.
